Please note Exhibit A, the photo on this page. This is what happens to women golfers at The Landings when there are too many frost delays and LWGA cancellations in January. Member-Member Co-Chairs Anne Neary and Joni Arb had a little too much time on their hands and went, well, mad. Fortunately, there’s a cure: the Mad Hatters Golf Party on March 20 and 21.
“Our goal is to promote an event where participants “go mad” and create imaginative, fun hats that enhance the friendship, fun and party atmosphere of the Mad Hatter theme,’ said Joni.
The member-member is the premier ladies’ event of the year, inspiring competition and camaraderie, according to the co-chairs. Last year’s tournament drew 180 golfers, up 20 players from the prior year. This year, Joni and Anne are channeling Johnny Depp’s crazy Mad Hatter portrayal. Joni and Anne expect members to step it up with their mad hats. Joni said, “We hope to get our member juices howling, which should lead to all kinds of fun!”
Hmmm, this sounds like Greek Week at ADPi, except we won’t have to deal with the dean of students afterwards.
The member-member tournament features a two-person team playing a net best ball day one and a scramble day two. The alternate shot format was dropped in the spirit of friendship so partners will still be on speaking terms when the tournament ends.
There will be multiple flights for the course-named or Skidaway tees starting with 9 am shotguns at Plantation and Oakridge (8:45 day two start at Oakridge.) The fee is $48 and includes tee gift, day two luncheon, prizes for the tournament and best Mad Hatter hats and contests for closest to the pin and closest to the line.
If you don’t have a partner, just register with the Plantation pro shop and you will be paired with a partner. You may also come just for lunch, which is $25.
For questions or lunch-only reservations, contact Tournament Publicity Chair Chris Jones at email@example.com or 404-422-1065. You may also sign up for lunch only by clicking this link.
Registration runs now through March 14 on-line or through the Plantation Pro Shop. Singles should contact the Plantation Pro Shop directly.
So start working on your hat and don’t be late for this very important date!
